Anthony Lucarelli, AIAHigher Education Practice Leader
Anthony joined the DLA+ team in the summer of 2019 and brings more than 30 years of design experience with on focus on higher education. He holds a Bachelor of Science in Art Education from the Pennsylvania State University and a Masters of Architecture from the University of Maryland.
Anthony began his career as a high school art teacher and later decided to go back to school for architecture. Upon completion of his Masters of Architecture, he taught at the University of Maryland and Carnegie Mellon University. His training and experience as an educator at both the K-12 and Collegiate levels helped shape his strengths and passion. Anthony loves the process of exploring a client’s vision and facility needs and leading a process of discovery to establish a strategy, program, and design concepts for an inspiring and effective solution. His extensive experience in the education sector includes serving more than 20 colleges and universities in campus planning and facility programming, planning and design. In addition, he’s led the planning and design of numerous mixed-use developments, providing the firm and its clients with added dimensions of expertise in urban design and multi-family residential architecture.
As Vice President, Higher Education, he will lead the design and planning teams to further grow the education practice. He will also oversee the firm’s marketing and business development initiatives. Anthony has been a speaker at various SCUP (The Society for College and University Planning) conferences and NAIOP (the Commercial Real Estate Development Association) events where he shares his higher education experience and knowledge.
In his free time, Anthony enjoys bicycling, traveling, fly fishing, and cooking.
