Project Challenges and Outcomes
Challenges
Create a space for a young couple with a growing family that allowed for entertaining and private family space in their downtown condo.
Outcomes
The project started with a design for the owners’ newly acquired unit located below their current condo. This space was designed to provide the growing couple with a space to entertain with bar, billiards and gathering area, wine room and a small media space. As the project evolved, the owner asked DLA+ to renovate their existing condo unit above. These newly combined stacked units would be accessible via a custom curved stairway between the spaces. The renovation included the owners’ more private areas of their kitchen, two bedrooms and bathrooms. In the end, the family now had space that provided the opportunity for hosting and entertaining when necessary but areas for privacy needed by a family with small children.
