Shelter and resource center coming to Downtown Pittsburgh

DLA+ is excited to be part of this unique project that will provide sanctuary and wrap around services to those experiencing homelessness in Downtown Pittsburgh. Yesterday, corporate, civic, and community leaders came together to announce the development of Project Cares. The design is the result of an unprecedented collaboration among stakeholders representing more than a dozen entities including City and County Government, private corporations, and non-governmental organizations.

The 45,000 SF comprehensive shelter will include a welcome and intake center with staff offices, work and support spaces, health clinic, drop-in hygiene center, community center, congregate sleeping for 100, 41 single occupancy rooms, and dining and commercial kitchen. Construction is set to begin in November.
